Oh black raven, quit your chase. Why’d you circle over me? I am not your prey, you won’t get me. Oh black raven, leave me be. Quit your crying, old black raven Quit to circle overhead. Nothing for you, oh black raven, I’m not yours, no, I ain’t dead. Now I am wounded, and this token Which my mother gave to me, It will be my final solace Oh black raven, leave me be. Fly to my homestead, black raven, Find my dear mother’s home. Tell her lastly, oh black raven, That for motherland I fall. Take this handkerchief and carry To my darling love’s abode, Tell her that I now set her free. And another’s hand I hold. I took a bride, quiet and humble: We were wed in open field. Here she is, my silent partner - Tempered, sharp, my saber’s steel. Hungry arrow did us marry Amidst fatal battle’s squall I hear death’s steps, oh black raven, I am yours, to you I fall. Old Black Raven, there’s a reason You were sent by gods to me. Fly down towards me, to my ear. Whisper your last song to me.

We’ll build a place for us to dwell, In the woods on yellow sand. With a silent waters’ well, With the herbs on our land, With three windows open wide: First - for stars to give us sight, Second is for moon’s bedside, Third – for sun to grant us might.

I see by mountainside A field so rich with rye, A grace who walks in furrows. The grace who has to die. I’ll go and scythe the crops And gently take your hair You’re always in my heart The beauty of the fields. Your golden hair is long, Your azure eyes are young, Your smile is generous, And arrow is your tongue. I’ll bring the edgy scythe And you will take my hand Bewitching all of me To have your final dance. You’re born with summer sun To touch the land with gold: The circle has begun Insanely young and old. I’m chanted by the songs You sing like heaven’s choir. And naked dance you whirl Is touching heart like fire. I see by mountainside A field so rich with rye, A grace who walks in furrows. The grace who has to die. I’ll go and scythe the crops And gently take your hair You’re always in my heart The beauty of the fields.

There by the adamant sea, Floated a flock of white swans. With small ones they wandered across The adamant endless blue sea. When did it come from above? The glaucous eagle, why you are here? You’re chasing with cold in your eyes Scattered flock across the sea. White down floating in the sky Grey feathers come to green meadow. And who is gathering up the white? A beautiful maiden is taking the feathers. She takes those for her man, So, he lies on the soft with no feeze, She could take those for light-hearted kids, But she’ll bring those to her fallen man.

Let your arrow fly over village sky, But don’t let him die. Don’t take one today, keep the one alive In the coming time. Let him go his way, put your longbow down, Since he’ll be unsung - No one left to cry. Where the mother cries for the fallen son There will rivers flow. Where the sister cries for the brother’s end, There will lake ascend. Where the widow cries for the husband’s pass, There will creek wash grass. Where the children cry for the father’s leave, There will brooks appear.
